Here is a mood board of what we want for our set design:

Costume and Makeup ideas

This mood board shows what we were thinking about for the costumes. We looked at different vintage and nineties images from inspiration from the images. The bottom right image with the dungarees is our main inspiration, this goes with the genre of the song and is very British. Another idea is the one in the top right-hand corner: high waisted jeans with a tight crop top. We don't want any branded clothes to be in the video like Nike or Adidas.

We also want her to have her hand a bit scruffed up and wear hoop earrings. Makeup-wise, it will be very minimal, just a plain canvas with a tad of shimmery eyeshadow.

Potential fourth element

Our potential fourth element could be a visual strand like a lighter or a sparkler.
We would have the sparkler in slow motion and these visual strands will be throughout the video.
The image of someone lighting a lighter and the flint hitting the steel will be a cool shot.

We were also thinking at the end of the video having the sparkler run out of spark to finish off the video.

Dorking Caves as a potential shoot location

We were thinking about using Dorking Caves as a potential location to shoot our lip sync in. In music video conventions, this type of location may not be stereotypical to the genre of music we are using, therefore not being that suitable. If we could change the colour of lights or put strip lights in the caves it may be more effective, but we don't think this is possible especially because it is a tourist location and we cannot make permanent alterations to the interior of the caves.

Attraction (dance group) inspiration

The video starts at 1:30 for the performance. This inspired us as a group to use a silhouette idea because it looks so seamless and effective to create a narrative.

In our music video, we will have a narrative of shadows pulling the artist back and forth, with them as silhouettes and the artist in the foreground as a person, not a shadow.

Ideas in where we can link the narrative between dark and light

At first I thought of the idea that a headshot of a silhouette with a light coming from behind, him looking forward and this will be present throughout the video. Then the artist will come into the shot, with her face facing towards the man, where you will see the lip sync of her lips, looking like she is talking to him.

For example: this picture fully represents what I want the shot to look like. It come from Lana Del Rays 'Summertime Sadness' video.

So, therefore, there would be a side shot of the artist 'speaking' to her lover in the video.

Changing the idea of a whole bunch of people dancing in one spot, we may just make it just one singular subject, the person is is going to connect with at the end.
